Simple and easy ways to make your home more secure
Cool site, just thought I would throw in my .02 on some basic home defense.
1. I dont reccomend this as a sole defense against theft but go to e bay and buy a few ADT or similar signs and stickers and post them at key viewing points around your property i.e. the end of the driveway by the road. This simple easy step will probably make 80% of thieves look for an easier target.
2. Dont advertize, if you drive a ferrari dont leave it parked outside for the world to see, if you have lots of guns, dont go strutting back and forth in front of your home for the world to see.........its a shame that we cant show off the things that we work hard for without worrying about someone else trying to steal them but, keep your valueable assets hidden from plain view and they are less likely to become a target.
3. LIGHTS LIGHTS LIGHTS. security/flood/ preferrably motion activated.
4. loud barking pets are always good
5. have a planned evacuation route in case of home invasion, some people have the means to stay and deffend themselves and their homes and others simply do not. Its always a good idea to have a safe way out if needed.
6. Always keep a phone nearby prefereably a cellular, all too often phone lines are cut on the outside before a break-in
7. Security system..modern well planned. most thives or intruders will turn tail and run if they get smacked in the face with a screetching siren upon kicking your back door in.
8. Firearm, stun gun, baseball bat, or some form of mace. for last line of defense. Chances are if you have done all of the above, by now 99.9 percent of intruders would be long gone. If you dont already own firearms dont just run out and by a gun just to have a gun. Get formal training on how to use it. If your not prepared to deal with the psycological and legal aftermath of killing another human, than a gun for security purposes is not for you.
